Ministry of Economy Hosts Workshop to Promote Digital Integration Through Economic Activities Platform
The UAE Ministry of Economy conducted a workshop to introduce the innovative Economic Activities Platform, aimed at enhancing the integration of government entities with the National Economic Register (NER), known as ‘Growth.’ The event brought together representatives from 30 federal and local government entities, including members of the Economic Activities Commission and licensing directors from municipalities nationwide.
H.E. Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Entrepreneurship and Economic Affairs Regulatory Sector at the Ministry of Economy, led the session. He emphasized that the platform represents a transformative step in the UAE’s digital transformation journey, eliminating paper-based transactions and fostering efficiency in economic and commercial activities. “This initiative strengthens the UAE’s knowledge and innovation-driven economic model, aligning with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision of establishing the country as a global leader by the next decade,” H.E. stated.
Standardising Economic Activities Nationwide
The Economic Activities Platform offers a unified and standardised classification of economic activities in alignment with international standards. By providing precise, updated information on laws and regulations, the platform enhances transparency, streamlines procedures, and saves time for government entities and businesses.
Participants were introduced to a range of features, including digital identity registration, access to approved federal economic activities, and detailed activity classifications aligned with the Standard Global Classification system. These classifications span various sectors, categories, and branches. Hands-on practice sessions focused on adding, modifying, and removing activities, as well as utilizing technological tools for data analysis and report preparation.
Integrated Services and Strategic Insights
The platform’s integrated services enable local authorities to submit economic activity requests for licensing, showcase strategic activities within each emirate, and connect local activities with global classification systems. These capabilities aim to foster collaboration and standardisation across the UAE.
H.E. Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi highlighted the platform’s significance in boosting the National Economic Register (NER), which serves as the UAE’s largest unified database of commercial licenses. By connecting over 46 entities nationwide, the NER simplifies business establishment procedures and integrates the Unified Economic Number (ERN), a federal identifier for enterprises and companies. The ERN acts as a crucial link between federal and local entities, ensuring seamless cooperation.
Advancing the UAE’s Vision
The workshop underscores the Ministry of Economy’s commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure and supporting the UAE’s strategic economic goals. Through initiatives like the Economic Activities Platform, the UAE continues to advance its position as a global leader in digital transformation and sustainable economic development.
