Huawei and IEEE UAE Section Crown Student from the University of Dubai as the Winner of the Imagine Wi-Fi 7 Contest

Mohammed Suleiman from the University of Dubai was awarded the winning prize of the first Huawei ‘Imagine Wi-Fi 7’ Innovative Application Contest launched in March this year.

Huawei, a global leader in technology innovation, recently hosted the awards ceremony for the inaugural ‘Imagine Wi-Fi 7’ Innovative Application Contest in the Middle East and Central Asia (ME&CA) region. The event took place on the sidelines of the Huawei Tech Carnival in Baku, Azerbaijan, where Mohammed Suleiman from the University of Dubai clinched the winning prize for his innovative contribution.

Launched in March this year, the contest aimed to encourage participants to showcase innovative Wi-Fi 7 use cases, prompting industries to explore and implement Wi-Fi 7 application scenarios in their operations. Participants presented viewpoints highlighting emerging value-driven scenarios across various sectors including education, banking, healthcare, and manufacturing.

Building on the success of the first season, Huawei announced the launch of the second season of the ‘Imagine Wi-Fi 7’ Innovative Application Contest. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with industry partners like IEEE and others, aims to provide a platform for industry players, customers, partners, research institutes, universities, and analysts to collectively develop new technologies and unleash innovative applications. It will enable participants to explore and master Wi-Fi 7, contributing to talent development in the connectivity field.

Wi-Fi 7, heralded as the new generation of Wi-Fi, promises to redefine wireless communication and usher in a new era of connectivity, offering substantial benefits for wireless networks. As the industry's first Wi-Fi 7 provider, Huawei stands at the forefront of this technological revolution.

Dr. Hussam Al Hamadi, the Vice Chair of IEEE UAE Section, expressed pride in the collaboration between Huawei and IEEE UAE Section for the Imagine Wi-Fi 7 program, stating, "We look forward to recreating the success of the first edition of the program and providing our members and others the opportunity to explore and unlock the potential of Wi-Fi 7.”

Steven Yi, President of Huawei Middle East & Central Asia, highlighted the contest's impact in inspiring industries to explore Wi-Fi 7 applications, boosting network efficiency and user experience. He emphasized the importance of launching the second season to invite more insights and embrace new technological opportunities.

Leon Wang, President of Huawei IP product line, reiterated Huawei's commitment to advancing WLAN standards. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving innovation, reflecting on Huawei's recognition with the "Best Enterprise Wi-Fi Network 2023" Award at the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) Industry Awards 2023.
