Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Organizes Introductory Workshop on Global Educational Excellence Award
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences hosted an introductory workshop on the Hamdan–EFQM Global Educational Award at its headquarters in Dubai. The event attracted significant participation from schools across the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the objectives, structure, and application process of the Hamdan–EFQM Global Educational Award, a pioneering initiative that evaluates institutional performance in the education sector according to international standards.
Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Foundation, emphasized the strategic role of the award in promoting quality education. “This award reflects the Foundation’s commitment to recognizing excellence in educational practices and honoring contributions that enhance educational quality,” he said. “Schools are the foundation of a sustainable, knowledge-based society, and through this initiative, we seek to catalyze a qualitative transformation in the education system aligned with the UAE’s vision for institutional excellence.”
Led by Dr. Rashid Al Reyami, a certified trainer and evaluator, the session provided participants with an in-depth overview of the award’s framework, eligibility conditions, and the digital application platform. The presentation was followed by an interactive discussion, offering school representatives an opportunity to clarify queries and explore how to implement the award’s criteria effectively.
The Hamdan–EFQM Global Educational Award stands as one of the Foundation’s flagship programs and is developed in collaboration with the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). Notably, it is the first award of its kind in the world to assess educational institutions through a robust evaluation model that aligns with internationally recognized standards.
The award is based on the Hamdan Educational Model, a globally recognized framework created in partnership with EFQM and leading international education experts. It focuses on enhancing pedagogical practices, administrative efficiency, learning outcomes, and the exchange of best practices across schools.
Eligible schools in the UAE and the broader GCC region can apply via EFQM’s AssessBase digital platform. Applications undergo a thorough review, followed by orientation sessions and on-site assessments conducted by expert evaluators. Participants receive comprehensive feedback reports containing strategic recommendations for continuous improvement.
The workshop concluded with a call to all qualifying schools to take part in the award program and leverage the Foundation’s resources to advance educational innovation and excellence. The initiative underlines the Foundation’s broader mission of embedding quality-driven systems in education to support national development goals.
