30 new innovators join the Airport Show for the first time dnata showcases products to foster sustainability
The 23rd edition of the Airport Show served as a platform for the unveiling of new technologies and services aimed at enhancing ground handling, cargo movements, and airport operations while promoting agility and sustainability within the aviation industry.
Over 30 innovative companies showcased their cutting-edge technologies and services for the first time at the Airport Show, attracting thousands of trade visitors and stakeholders. Ground handling service providers and air navigation service providers received overwhelming responses from industry professionals and visitors alike.
Among the notable highlights, Global Air Navigation Services (GANS), the region's sole private sector air navigation services provider certified by the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), exhibited its expertise in engineering Heliport Facilities and Helipad Systems Supplies and Installation.
The GSE Zone, in partnership with dnata, featured innovations from ground handling equipment manufacturers. dnata, a key player, presented Mallaghan's state-of-the-art trucks for catering operations, showcasing its commitment to sustainability by opting for EURO 6 technology, resulting in significant emissions reductions.
dnata also unveiled the 'Tisabas Operation,' a folding baggage conveyor system designed to enhance safety and efficiency in loading and unloading aircraft cargo. Additionally, dnata showcased a Towbarless tractor, an electric vehicle designed for aircraft towing at airports.
Smiths Detection introduced the SDX 10060 XDi, a revolutionary security screening technology utilizing X-ray Diffraction (XRD) to accurately identify molecular structures, enhancing object detection efficiency and security measures at international checkpoints.
The Airport Show 2024 featured a high-profile panel discussion titled "Elevating Passenger Experience: Investing in Innovation to Capture Traveler Hearts." Amid unprecedented changes and challenges in the travel industry, industry experts explored the critical importance of passenger experience and the role of innovation in shaping it.
Moderated by Dr. Nikhil Kilpady, Director of Aerospace & Defence at Frost & Sullivan, the panel included leaders from Oman Airports, Airport International Group, Noida International Airport, Emirates Group, and AirportLabs. They underscored innovation as a key driver in enhancing passenger experiences, emphasizing the need for continuous adaptation to evolving traveler expectations through data-driven insights and innovative solutions.
