GAS Launches ‘Sports Talent’ Platform to Empower UAE's Promising Athletes

The General Authority of Sports (GAS) has introduced the ‘Sports Talent’ platform as a pivotal part of the ‘Empowerment and Sustainability of Sports Talents’ project. This innovative online platform is designed to identify 1,500 promising sports talents across the UAE, offering them the necessary support to develop, cultivate, and empower their capabilities. The initiative aligns with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision and the National Sports Strategy 2031, creating an inclusive and encouraging environment for the Emirati sports community.

The platform is engineered to collect crucial data and insights about sports talents, from initial registration through to the empowerment phase. It collaborates with sports organizations and educational institutions across the UAE, monitoring sports fairs and events that focus on identifying talents within the community. By connecting skilled athletes with the right opportunities, the platform aims to direct their potential towards success in their chosen sports.

His Excellency Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Director-General of the General Authority of Sports, emphasized the platform's significance: “Our ‘Empowerment and Sustainability of Sports Talents’ project aims to expand the base of sports practices for promising talents. The ‘Sports Talent’ platform will foster a sports culture and develop a professional mindset among athletes, ensuring the sustainability of sports talents in alignment with the goals of the ‘Year of Sustainability’. Through these efforts, we aim to boost the UAE’s sports landscape by working closely with our partners from the sports, government, and private sectors.”

H.E. Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at GAS, highlighted the platform's role in talent development: “This initiative seeks to create a comprehensive database of sports talents in the UAE, accessible to all young talents, whether they are currently participating in sporting events or not. It will serve as the primary communication channel with talented athletes across the UAE.”

He further noted that increasing events dedicated to talent discovery and empowerment would bolster the national identity of these athletes and help achieve the targets of the National Sports Strategy 2031, including the goal of qualifying over 30 Emirati athletes for the 2032 Olympic Games.

The key objectives of the ‘Sports Talent’ platform include identifying sports talents across various age groups, monitoring and documenting initiatives and programs designed for talent discovery and empowerment, and developing a comprehensive database of sports talents in different competitive sports.

The platform is positioned as a key contributor to achieving national sports goals, fostering a competitive environment that nurtures talent through dedicated plans and programs. The initiative also emphasizes collaboration among stakeholders to uphold principles of effective sports management and corporate governance, ensuring the successful execution of sports strategies and objectives.

For those interested in registering their talents, the platform is now accessible through the General Authority of Sports website here.
