FIA President Welcomes Return of Turkish Grand Prix to Formula 1 Calendar

Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has welcomed the return of the Turkish Grand Prix to the FIA Formula One World Championship calendar, highlighting it as a key milestone in the sport’s global expansion.

In an official statement, Ben Sulayem described the comeback of Formula 1 to Türkiye as a reflection of the sport’s growing international appeal and strategic push into dynamic markets.

“Istanbul Park is a circuit that holds a special place in Formula 1 history, and its return underlines our shared commitment to expanding the championship in dynamic markets,” he said.

The Istanbul Park circuit has long been regarded as one of the most iconic venues in the sport, known for its challenging layout and memorable races.

Ben Sulayem also extended his appreciation to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Eren Üçlertoprağı, President of the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, for their role in securing the event’s return.

He emphasised that the renewed collaboration not only ensures the long-term presence of Formula 1 in Türkiye but also supports the broader development of motorsport in the region.

The move is expected to strengthen the sport’s global footprint while contributing to sustainable growth and increased engagement in emerging motorsport markets.
