FIA Member Clubs Unite in Montenegro to Advance Mobility and Motorsport Across Regions
Leaders from across the global motorsport and mobility ecosystem are set to convene in Montenegro for the FIA Region I Spring Meeting, bringing together representatives from the Middle East, Europe, and Africa to advance collaboration in safe and sustainable mobility.
The three-day congress, taking place in Budva, will be attended by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, alongside delegates from 102 Member Clubs. The event is hosted by the Auto-Moto Association of Montenegro.
The gathering will focus on key challenges shaping the future of transportation and motorsport, including road safety, sustainability, and innovation, while facilitating knowledge exchange across regions.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Mohammed Ben Sulayem highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing evolving mobility needs. He noted that the event provides a platform to strengthen transport systems, enhance road safety, and develop solutions that are more sustainable, accessible, and efficient for road users worldwide.
The FIA Region I Spring Meeting will also host a series of commissions and working groups, including the International Historic Commission and the FIA Eurocouncil, which focus on preserving motoring heritage and supporting future mobility strategies. In parallel, Member Clubs continue to implement initiatives such as the Safe Mobility 4 All and 4 Life programmes across the region.
National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) will hold dedicated sessions to further develop motorsport, focusing on improving safety standards, enhancing fan engagement, and strengthening regulatory frameworks.
The event will also feature the announcement of the FIA Innovation Challenge 2026 Regional Champions, recognising initiatives that contribute to improving mobility services across participating countries.
Montenegro has been selected as the host location amid ongoing developments in its transport sector. Investments in infrastructure, including the Bar–Boljare motorway, alongside recent road safety reforms and the Sustainable Transport Action Plan, have positioned the country as an emerging example of progress in mobility.
In motorsport, Montenegro continues to build its presence through grassroots events such as the Montenegro Trophy, which has attracted increasing regional participation.
The FIA’s global structure plays a central role in coordinating these efforts. Its network comprises 245 Member Clubs across 149 countries, representing over 80 million members worldwide. These clubs operate as either National Sporting Authorities, responsible for governing motorsport, or Mobility Clubs, which focus on road safety, travel services, and consumer advocacy.
As discussions unfold in Budva, the meeting is expected to reinforce international cooperation and drive forward shared priorities, positioning mobility and motorsport at the centre of efforts to build safer, more sustainable global transport systems.
