Federal Tax Authority holds first VAT Business Advisory Group meeting of 2026

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has convened the first meeting of the VAT Business Advisory Group for 2026, reinforcing its ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with the UAE business community and support a more efficient and responsive tax environment.

The meeting was held in the presence of His Excellency Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Director General of the FTA, with participation from taxpayer representatives across a broad range of economic sectors through both in-person and virtual attendance.

The session forms part of the Authority’s wider Business Advisory Groups initiative, which includes specialized advisory groups serving different industries and sectors. Through these platforms, the FTA aims to expand collaboration with businesses, establish direct communication channels with taxpayers, enhance tax compliance, and improve service delivery in line with international standards and best practices.

During the meeting, the Director General reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to developing stronger channels of cooperation with the private sector and promoting continuous dialogue as part of the UAE’s broader public-private partnership approach.

He emphasized that regular engagement sessions provide opportunities to exchange perspectives and expertise while contributing to the development of a tax framework that responds to the evolving needs of different sectors of the economy.

According to Al Mulla, the advisory meetings play an important role in creating constructive dialogue and practical feedback mechanisms between the FTA and business representatives. He noted that these discussions support improvements in tax services, operational procedures, customer experience, tax compliance, and transparency in the application of tax legislation.

The Authority also highlighted its continued focus on digital transformation and service enhancement, with ongoing investments in technology and operational improvements aimed at simplifying tax procedures and improving service quality for customers.

Al Mulla stated that input and recommendations from members of the business community remain an essential component of the Authority’s strategy for continuous development and improvement.

The meeting is part of a broader series of initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities led by the FTA to increase awareness of tax obligations, gather feedback from taxpayers, and encourage stronger participation from the business sector.

Through these efforts, the Authority seeks to support the development of a modern, efficient, and flexible tax system aligned with the UAE’s long-term economic objectives and vision for a sustainable and future-ready economy.
