EtihadWE Celebrates Emirati Women’s Day with Landmark Workforce Representation

Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) proudly marks Emirati Women’s Day with a significant milestone: 60% of its workforce is now comprised of Emirati women, with 75% of them holding engineering roles. This achievement underscores EtihadWE’s commitment to gender balance and the empowerment of UAE nationals in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

EtihadWE’s focus on gender inclusivity is driven by a comprehensive Emiratisation strategy, which includes specialized training programs, partnerships with top educational institutions, and initiatives to foster female leadership. Emirati women at EtihadWE are playing a critical role in advancing technological innovations, particularly in areas such as water desalination, energy infrastructure, and electric vehicle projects.

Key programs like the Graduate Training Programme and the National Professional Diploma have been instrumental in equipping women with the skills needed to excel in the utilities sector. The success of these initiatives is evident, with 17 female Emirati graduates currently in training and 118 women having gained practical skills in the past year. The Emerging Leadership programme also highlights EtihadWE’s dedication to nurturing future female leaders, with over 10 women actively participating.

Shaikha Murad AlBlooshi, SVP Human Capital & Administration at EtihadWE, emphasized the strategic importance of empowering Emirati women: "Empowering Emirati women is not just a commitment but a strategic necessity for the sustainable development of our nation. As the UAE leads the global energy transition, investing in our women is investing in the future of our industry and our country. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where women can thrive and inspire future generations, contributing significantly to a sustainable and equitable future."

EtihadWE’s achievements reflect its role in supporting the UAE’s growth and diversification strategy, ensuring a resilient and inclusive workforce ready to meet the challenges of the future.
