Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the worlds biggest district cooling services provider, stated that it has combined the worlds highest observation wheel, Ain Dubai to its district cooling network. Ain Dubai is at Bluewaters Island on the coast of Dubai.
Though the island has previously opened its doors to tourists and residents, the entire world awaits the launch of Ain Dubai, the huge Ferris wheel. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower said: All services for implementing the plan with district cooling services have been built, and the wheel construction was efficiently and professionally combined with 850 Refrigeration Tons (RT). Bin Shafar highlighted that the services that were completed lately are part of satisfying the necessities of the agreement signed with Meraas in 2015 to present the island project with a total capacity of 25,000 Refrigeration Tons (RT). In August 2017, Bluewaters Island was attached to the Empower network; and this was supported by the victorious operations for Ain Dubai Ferris wheel.
With an investment of 6 billion AED, the Bluewaters Island project, which includes the Ain Dubai Wheel, in extension to many luxurious living and hotel buildings including the Caesars Palace Bluewaters Dubai and the unique shopping and entertainment centers, centres a qualitative supplement to companys portfolio, Bin Shafar stated. The design lies among the most famous multi-use urban icons that Empower provides high-quality district cooling services as per the international norms.
Bin Shafar figured that Ain Dubai and Bluewaters Island are provided with eco-friendly district cooling services from the freshly modernized plant of Empower in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR). The plant was promoted to the following age district cooling systems which significantly frees power, improve performance and decreases carbon emission.
The plant in JBR leverages the most advanced technologies in district cooling systems, including Thermal Energy Storage (TES) technology that monitors and adjusts the water flow to and from the cooling plant and aids to lessen the strain on the state power grid during peak hours. Empower gives district cooling services to over 1,180 buildings and 120,000 customers, with a total cooling capacity of 1,530,000 Refrigeration Tons (RT).
