Emirates Health Services Public Health Centres Earn Prestigious JCI Accreditation

Public health centres under Emirates Health Services (EHS) in Dubai and the Northern Emirates have achieved a significant milestone by earning the prestigious international accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI). This recognition marks the first time these 10 centres have received the esteemed certification, awarded after a comprehensive field audit by a specialised committee.

Advancing Operational Efficiency and Public Health Outcomes

Dr. Shamsa Majid Lootah, Director of the Public Health Department at EHS, highlighted the organisation's dedication to innovative solutions aimed at boosting operational efficiency and public health outcomes. She stated that this achievement aligns with the UAE’s national strategies, including the We the UAE 2031 vision and the UAE Centennial 2071 initiative, which aim to enhance quality of life and build a sustainable future.

Growth in Residency Visa Medical Fitness Examinations

EHS reported a 30% increase in residency visa medical fitness examinations, with over 1.2 million conducted in 2024. This growth stems from digital transformation initiatives that streamline procedures. Customers can now use the EHS website for service requests, digital payments, and scheduling examinations. The entire process, including necessary vaccinations, is completed within 20 minutes.

Innovative home testing services are now available at the Salah Al Din and Ibn Battuta Medical Examination Centres, allowing visitors to undergo tests at their preferred location and time. Advanced X-ray and AI-powered laboratory technologies further ensure swift and accurate results.

Streamlining Services with Integrated Platforms

EHS has introduced interconnected service platforms based on the "once-only" principle, where customers submit information only once for various interconnected services. Integrated bundles now include ID and work card issuance alongside medical examinations, reducing time and effort for individuals and businesses.

Commitment to Global Standards and Community Engagement

EHS’s 10 public health centres have implemented 14 global standards under JCI accreditation, focusing on infection control, risk management, and patient safety. These measures aim to improve healthcare efficiency, reduce errors, and increase customer satisfaction.

The centres served over two million patients in 2024, reflecting the growing trust in EHS services. Regular updates on available health services are shared through the EHS website and social media platforms to ensure community awareness.

Award-Winning Innovation in Disease Prediction

EHS has also developed an AI-powered Epidemiological Surveillance and Infectious Disease Prediction System to enhance monitoring and risk assessment. This innovation earned the Zimam Digital Health Award at the 7th GCC e-Health Workforce Development Conference, recognising it as the “Best Digital Public Health Project of the Year.”

Looking Ahead

By obtaining JCI accreditation, EHS reaffirms its commitment to improving public health, ensuring patient safety, and embracing technological innovation to enhance service delivery and community well-being.
