Emirates Health Services Launches Advanced Technology for Early Vision Problem Detection in Children
Emirates Health Services (EHS) has implemented advanced technology for the early detection of vision problems in children aged six months and older. Using the portable Spot Vision Screener, EHS aims to enhance pediatric healthcare by identifying potential eye conditions early, allowing for timely intervention.
The Spot Vision Screener, designed for children aged six months to five years, provides rapid and accurate detection of various vision issues, including near-sightedness, farsightedness, strabismus, and astigmatism. This device will be available at 20 EHS primary healthcare centers during routine check-ups at Child Health and Vaccinations Clinics.
Dr. Kareema Alraesi, Director of the Primary Healthcare Department at EHS, emphasized that the introduction of this technology reflects EHS’ commitment to providing high-quality healthcare and aligns with the Innovation Strategy 2023-2026. "By using the Spot Vision Screener, we can ensure early detection, which is crucial for preventing issues that could impact a child's academic and social development," Dr. Alraesi said.
The device, known for its precision, offers non-invasive, quick screenings that require minimal interaction, making it particularly suitable for young children. Positive cases will be referred to specialized healthcare centers for further evaluation and treatment.
