Dwight Schools to Open New Cairo Campus in Partnership With Al-Futtaim Education Foundation

Dwight Schools is expanding its Middle East presence with the launch of Dwight School Cairo, developed in partnership with the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation, the education arm of Al-Futtaim Group. The new campus, located in Festival City, Cairo, marks the institution’s second in the region following the success of Dwight School Dubai.

The collaboration brings together Dwight’s 153-year legacy in International Baccalaureate (IB) education and the Foundation’s extensive regional experience in operating leading not-for-profit schools. The aim is to introduce a personalised, future-focused educational model that nurtures creativity, curiosity and global citizenship among learners in Egypt.

“Education transforms lives when it is personal, purposeful, and deeply human,” said Stephen Spahn, Chancellor of Dwight Schools. He added that the new Cairo campus will deliver the full IB continuum and create opportunities for students to build the values and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society.

Since opening in 2018, Dwight School Dubai has established itself as one of the UAE’s forward-thinking international schools, sending graduates to top global universities including the University of St Andrews, the London School of Economics and New York University. The Cairo school will open with classes from Pre-K to Grade 5, with plans to expand to higher grades in the coming years. Its purpose-built campus features innovation labs, performing arts studios and sports facilities designed to support holistic learning and student well-being.

The founding leadership team will be headed by Tom Ferguson, currently Head of Dwight School Seoul, ensuring the Cairo campus aligns with Dwight’s global standards of personalised learning and international-mindedness. “With Cairo joining our global network, we are creating new pathways for collaboration and cultural exchange across our campuses,” said Dr. Blake Spahn, Vice Chancellor of Dwight Schools.

The initiative also supports the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation’s long-term mission to broaden access to high-quality international education across the region. “Our partnership with Dwight Schools marks a significant step in our commitment to redefining the future of learning,” said Mira Al Futtaim, Chief Future Education Officer. Dr. Farah Sarraj, Chief Corporate Officer, added that the new campus represents a major advancement in offering students in Egypt a comprehensive IB education designed to build critical thinking, creativity and intercultural skills.

Dwight’s entry into Egypt comes at a time when the country’s education sector is witnessing increased demand for international programmes, driven by a youthful population and a national emphasis on innovation. The move aligns with regional goals to prepare students for global opportunities while preserving cultural context.

Dwight Schools, founded in New York in 1872, operates campuses in New York, London, Seoul, Shanghai, Dubai, Hanoi, and Dwight Global Online, all united under the mission of “igniting the spark of genius in every child.”
