Bus is a recycled ex-commercial vehicle that has been given a new lease of life to support Expo 2020 Dubais recycling education and awareness efforts
Emirati integrated solutions issuer Dulsco, the Official Waste Management Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, targets to create a recycling buzz with the large expose of its recycling bus to audiences at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), which is being hosted at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week from January 13 16, 2020.
A first initiative in the region, Dulscos bus will be on show at WFES, with the branded colourful vehicle proposing a range of bins as receptacles for distinct recyclable waste products. The installation encourages community members to discard their recyclables into distinctive waste streams. Following WFES, the bus will quit at the Expo 2020 Dubai site at the time of its own Sustainability Week, which will take place between January 19 23, 2020, to remind all Expo 2020 Dubai staff about the significance of waste segregation and recycling.
The launch of Dulscos recycling bus at WFES forms part of a programme that will quickly see it setting off on a trip around the United Arab Emirates to increase awareness in communities on the importance of disposing of waste effectively so that it can be reused with a new life-cycle. The initiative also supports Expo 2020 Dubais goals to interact with the community and enlarge the impact of sustainability beyond the boundaries of the physical site and beyond the period of the six-month event. The vehicles planned itinerary which includes stops at colleges and other institutions to spotlight waste recycling, with its journey also tied into environmental awareness days.
Along with teaching people and elevating awareness, Dulscos recycling bus will be travelling around communities to physically gather recyclable waste and transport it to its a variety of waste recycling facilities, which includes the new latest Materials Recovery Facility in Ras Al Khor, Dubai. Along its journey, it will also be the focus of particularly organised community events that form part of Dulscos CSR programme, which revolves around its dedication to powering better communities through the 4Rs: reducing, reusing, repurposing and recycling.
In addition to demonstrating how Dulsco targets to meet Expo 2020 Dubai and federal waste diversion targets, Dulscos recycling bus will exhibit how the company is contributing to the creation of a circular economy an economic model that brings assets back into use and feeds again to the economy. Among the strategies they will be demonstrating is how attractive items of apparel, such as T-shirts and caps, can be fashioned from plastic bottles; how discarded glass can enter a new life-cycle as candle holders, serving trays and coasters; and how paper and cardboard can be changed into egg trays, cup-holders and seed pots.
