Dubai Humanitarian Launches Air Bridge to Deliver Winter Relief Supplies to Gaza
Dubai Humanitarian has launched a new humanitarian air bridge to deliver winter relief supplies to Gaza under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The first flight, carrying essential supplies and thermal winter blankets for UNICEF, has arrived in Al Arish, Egypt, ahead of the shipment’s onward transfer to Gaza.
The operation aims to help families, particularly children and other vulnerable groups, prepare for the approaching winter as humanitarian relief efforts continue.
Dubai Royal Air Wing to Operate Multiple Relief Flights
The air bridge comprises multiple flights operated by the Dubai Royal Air Wing using C-130 aircraft, each carrying approximately nine metric tonnes of humanitarian supplies.
At least three additional flights are scheduled in the coming days to transport blankets for children and other vulnerable groups.
Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Chairman of the Dubai Humanitarian Authority, said the initiative was intended to help families facing difficult conditions as winter approaches.
“Winter is a difficult time for families who have already endured immense hardship, particularly children,” he said.
Bin Ghalita added that the first facilitated shipment had arrived in Al Arish before its onward transfer to Gaza. He said the operation reflected Dubai Humanitarian’s role as a global hub connecting humanitarian partners, supporting relief operations and helping deliver assistance to people in need.
Shipment Marks First Coordinated Order Under UN80 Initiative
The shipment also marks the first coordinated sourcing order under the UN80 Integrated Supply Chain Approach, which brings together United Nations agencies to improve the joint sourcing and delivery of humanitarian supplies.
Facilitated by Dubai Humanitarian in collaboration with its partners, the initiative aims to strengthen coordination, accelerate humanitarian operations and improve the efficiency of aid delivery.
The coordinated approach is intended to help humanitarian organisations plan supply requirements and work together more effectively to move essential assistance to affected communities.
Dubai Humanitarian Continues Multi-Route Gaza Relief Efforts
Since 2023, Dubai Humanitarian has facilitated humanitarian air bridges, land convoys and sea shipments to support relief efforts in Gaza.
Working with international humanitarian partners, the organisation has continued to support the movement of essential supplies through multiple transport routes to help sustain relief operations.
The newly launched air bridge adds another delivery channel to these efforts, with further flights planned to transport winter supplies in the coming days.
