Dubai Executive Council and DEWA discuss cooperation to implement Hamdan City Builders race initiative

The Dubai Executive Council and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) have discussed cooperation and coordination to implement the City Builders Race initiative launched by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. They both visited each other to build closer ties and exchange best practices to provide excellent services that achieve the happiness and satisfaction of Dubais citizens and residents.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, received in his office HE Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council. Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, Abdullah Al Hajri, Executive Vice President of Customer Services, Moza Al Akraf, Acting CIO of Information Technology at DEWA. The meeting was also attended by Eman Al Suwaidi, Director, Wafaa Abu Sunaina, Consultant, and Ahmed Al Badwawi, Project Manager, at Dubai's - The Model Centre.

The two sides discussed the best ways to boost collaboration, communication and integration among government departments, particularly with regards to the City Builders Race initiative, launched by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government.

"His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, launched the City Builders Race initiative to develop and improve the basic shared services of the Government of Dubai. This new approach boosts collaboration and competitiveness among participating teams to improve these services to higher levels and achieve the happiness of the people. The competition will run for a full year. The winning team will be honoured at the Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government ceremony," said Al Shaibani.

"City Builders Race explores opportunities for improvement, creativity and innovation, and looks into new ideas to develop government services in Dubai. It presents new ideas to develop government services in Dubai and provide quality services to residents and visitors of the Emirate. During the first phase of the initiative, which focuses on improving four government services. These are emergency, ambulance, social care, electricity and water, and creative and innovative services, we have created four teams comprising of government employees who have been evaluated on certain criteria to present innovative ideas and initiatives for the services," said Al Shaibani.

"At present, we are in the process of collecting data, looking into customers experiences and listening to their points of view and suggestions. The team is visiting 16 government organisations whose staff are part of the teams that have services in the City Builders Race. We have visited DEWA to look into opportunities to boost collaboration, communication, and integration to move forward in the implementation of the initiative to the fullest," Al Shaibani added.

"I'd like to thank HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and the work team for the warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss ways for collaboration and integration to achieve the objectives of the City Builders Race initiative to promote government services delivered to Dubai residents and visitors to make them happy," concluded Al Shaibani.

It also helps to achieve leadership of smart businesses and initiatives among government departments in Dubai.

This will achieve the aspirations of our wise leadership to always attain first place in terms of services delivered to customers of local departments. We strongly believe in teamwork, and this initiative is really a distinguished race, where all government departments that are associated with electricity and water services can take part to optimise the services they deliver to world-class standards. This initiative adopts a new mechanism and provides the most appropriate environment to help find new and innovative solutions and initiatives for the services that are offered by more than one government organisation. These government departments can compete as work teams, not as individual departments, showing the importance of integration and collaboration in achieving the best results," said Al Tayer

Al Tayer thanked Al Shaibani for his great contribution and role in promoting communications between the Executive Council and DEWA to deliver quality government services according to the highest global standards. He also praised the great effort of the initiative team in briefing about it. At the meeting, the two sides shared views about the best ways to implement the initiative to achieve the targeted strategic objectives for the common good of all stakeholders in the Emirate.

The two sides also explored the initiatives objectives, tracks and other relevant information about this new category of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government, to encourage and support government departments to launch new creative and innovative services that can surpass customers expectations.
