Dubai Culture Launches ‘Art + Tech Collaborative Training Programme’ in Partnership with REALIITY

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has introduced the ‘Art + Tech Collaborative Training Programme,’ a transformative initiative created in collaboration with REALIITY. This four-month programme bridges the gap between artistic creativity and technological innovation, equipping artists with essential skills to integrate advanced technologies into their creative practices. The initiative aligns with Dubai Culture’s vision to position Dubai as a global cultural hub, incubator for creativity, and thriving talent destination.

Running until 10 February 2025, the programme features six selected artists engaging in an intensive curriculum covering the history of technology in art, coding in Python, basic electronics, sensors, microcontroller programming, 3D modelling, and 3D printing. Participants will create individual art-tech installations showcased in a public exhibition, reflecting their learning and creativity.

Weekly workshops, conducted at Bait 341 in the Al Shindagha Historical District, are led by industry expert Dr Ahmed Al Attar. The programme fosters technical proficiency, innovation, and collaborative learning, offering mentorship and hands-on experience with cutting-edge art-tech practices.

Dr Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts, Design and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, emphasized the programme’s role in driving innovation:
“Dubai’s commitment to innovation and digital transformation has established it as a global laboratory for pioneering ideas. The ‘Art + Tech Collaborative Training Programme’ empowers artists to merge art with technology, creating unique works that engage diverse audiences and reflect contemporary advancements. This initiative exemplifies Dubai’s leadership in fostering a knowledge- and innovation-driven economy.”

The programme is part of the Dubai Cultural Grant initiative, underscoring the Authority’s dedication to nurturing talent and promoting innovative artistic practices. Participants will gain hands-on experience in creating interactive installations that integrate sensors and 3D printing technologies, while collaborating in a supportive environment.

The programme will culminate in a public exhibition, offering participants recognition and opportunities to engage with audiences. By championing the convergence of art and technology, Dubai Culture continues to support the creative economy’s growth and enhance the emirate’s global cultural influence.
