du Pay appoints Roberto Mancone as CEO to drive fintech expansion

du Pay, the digital financial services arm of du, has announced the appointment of Roberto Mancone as Chief Executive Officer as the company accelerates its expansion plans and strengthens its position in the UAE’s growing fintech sector.

Mancone brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in fintech and digital banking across the USA, Europe, the UK, and the GCC. His appointment comes at a pivotal stage for du Pay as the company moves beyond its scale-up phase into its next phase of strategic growth and market expansion.

Operating under the regulatory framework of the Central Bank of the UAE, du Pay currently offers a range of digital financial services including peer-to-peer transfers, merchant payments, remittances, cash-in and cash-out services, IBAN accounts, and debit cards. The company also plans to expand into lending, insurance, and investment services through internal innovation and strategic partnerships.

Fahad Al Hassawi, Chairman of du Pay, said the appointment reflects the company’s ambitions to strengthen its fintech ecosystem and drive innovation in digital payments across the UAE.

He noted that Mancone’s extensive industry expertise would help deepen strategic partnerships while supporting the company’s long-term mission of transforming digital financial services in the region.

In his new role, Mancone will oversee the company’s strategic direction, operational leadership, regulatory compliance, and commercial growth initiatives as du Pay works towards becoming a comprehensive digital financial ecosystem.

Prior to joining du Pay, Mancone served as CEO of BEYON Money in Bahrain and the UAE, where he led the launch and growth of a national digital finance platform backed by a sovereign fund.

The appointment follows a period of rapid growth for du Pay, which recently surpassed 1.4 million unique downloads and processed more than AED 4 billion in transactions within two years of operation.

The platform offers zero-balance digital wallets with free IBAN accounts, multilingual accessibility, international remittance services to more than 200 countries, bill payments, mobile top-ups, peer-to-peer transfers, and prepaid card services aimed at improving financial accessibility for underserved communities.

In 2025, du Pay expanded its offerings with the introduction of its “Salary in the Digital Wallet” service, enabling workers without traditional bank accounts to receive salaries directly through digital wallets.

The company’s growth and innovation have also earned industry recognition, including the E-Payment Solution of the Year award at the Entrepreneur Leaders in E-Business Awards 2025 and Visa’s Partnership Excellence Award.
