DEWA participates in PV-panel technology workshop in India

A delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has taken part in a workshop in India to highlight the current technological solutions and exchange expertise in Photovoltaic (PV) panels.

The DEWA delegation examined the accomplishments of the Research and Development department in testing panels, its environmental impact, and the significance of adopting international requirements in designing them.

"DEWA is keen to get involved in such international occasions to share know-how with prominent worldwide gamers in the fields of PV panels, especially given that DEWA is playing an essential role in this location. Last March, DEWA started activating the first clever effort, Shams Dubai, to regulate the generation of solar energy in structures and their connection to DEWA's grid. The move supports the Smart Dubai effort launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and executes Council Resolution Number 46 of 2014, issued by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to allow customers to set up photovoltaic panels to create electrical power from solar energy in structures, and link them to DEWA's grid," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

DEWA delegation was headed by Dr. Hassan Qasem, who spoke at the Workshop on PV Module Reliability in Hot Climates workshop arranged by The National Centre for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE), the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), The Solar Energy Research Institute for India and the United States (SERIIUS), and The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

This workshop highlighted the resilience of PV panels on the long term, specifically in warmer climates. The workshop assessed field information readily available from lots of controllers around the globe. This workshop comes at a time when there is a global accelerated spread of solar PV-panel usage, which offers considerable assistance to the production of clean energy.
