DEWA and WETEX donate AED 2 million for Show Compassion Campaign
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the Water, Energy Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) donated AED 1 million each towards the Show Compassion (Tarahamu) campaign to provide relief to refugees and victims of severe cold weather in the Levant, following the directives of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, presented the contribution to HE Ibrahim Boumelha, Adviser to the Ruler of Dubai on Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment, at a meeting in his office. Al Tayer personally handed over the cheques to Boumelha.
I praise the directives of our wise leadership to support the needy, further adding to the reputation of our nation as a beacon of goodness. We reach out to our brothers in distress, which is an integral part of the UAEs strategy reflecting the values of the founding fathers of the UAE, said Al Tayer.
I thank DEWA for its quick response to the directives of our leaders. The UAE has always been supportive and helpful to our brothers and sisters, who are in need, by providing timely care and assistance. It reflects our nations culture of charity and volunteering, said Boumelha.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at DEWA, Jassim Rajab, Financial Controller, Ahmed Abdullah, Senior Manager for External Communications and Arif Julfar, Senior Manager of Customer Relations at DEWA, and other officials.
