Book in Minutes new series sheds light on impact of digital technology on modern generations
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) has announced the launch of a new collection of its Book in Minutes initiative which highlights a number of topics of relevance to the lives of people in various areas. The latest summaries feature three books that discuss the impact of digital technology on modern generations, and highlights methods to increase internal energy of individuals and how a person can become an eloquent orator.
The first book titled Grown Up Digital by Don Tapscott points to the impact of internet and digital technology on young people as well as the extent of their association with these technologies. The writer identifies eight aspects of the internet generation, highlighting how this bright community has developed revolutionary new ways of thinking, interacting, working and socialising. The book also shows the importance of updating the education process to keep up with technological advances.
In the second book, Fully Charged, author Tom Rath talks about new standards of evaluating daily performance by determining daily satisfaction against overall satisfaction levels, thereby enabling people to understand the significance of their lives. The book shows the real value of what people do, and how their behaviours benefit others. It points to the interactions that create positive moments and states that decisions that raise mental and physical health contribute to enhanced energy levels. The book also sheds light on successful management of stress situations and how they can be turned around as sources of positive stimulation.
The third book, Talk Like Ted by Carmine Gallo discusses the art of persuasion and how an individual can become a tactful speaker as some of the most popular TED presenters. The author states that the most important qualities of the eloquent speakers are honesty and spontaneity, and calls on the readers to replace weak body language with concise but interesting talks that capture the imagination of the audience.
In an opening note to the latest summaries, His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of MBRF, stated that access to advanced technology has transformed peoples lives and spawned a generation aptly called the digital generation. The modern generation effectively utilises modern technologies and social media as tools to stimulate learning and enhance performance of daily tasks, HE Bin Huwaireb added.
HE Bin Huwaireb said new technology is helping create a balance in the lives of children from the digital generation in terms of their requirements and their relations. In this respect, it is important to promote direct communication between children and those around them, and monitor their use of modern technology to prevent associated risks, and create a generation capable of making positive contributions to their communities, HE Bin Huwaireb stated.
