ADCAN Pharma and MS Pharma Partner to Expand Pharmaceutical Manufacturing in the UAE
ADCAN Pharma and MS Pharma have announced a strategic collaboration to advance the local manufacturing of biosimilars and other pharmaceutical products in the UAE, aiming to strengthen domestic production capabilities, improve access to medicines and support more resilient healthcare supply chains.
The partnership was announced during the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit and will establish a framework for local manufacturing, packaging, testing and batch release of biosimilars, injectable medicines and oral solid dosage forms in the country.
The collaboration brings together ADCAN Pharma's UAE-based manufacturing infrastructure and MS Pharma's regional biopharmaceutical expertise, with a particular focus on biosimilars and advanced biologic therapies used to treat complex and chronic diseases.
Partnership Targets Multiple Therapeutic Areas
The proposed product portfolio will cover a broad range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, immunology, ophthalmology, respiratory diseases, metabolic and musculoskeletal conditions.
It will also include products for anti-infective, cardiovascular, neurological and genitourinary care.
By developing local pharmaceutical capabilities, the companies aim to bring treatments closer to patients, broaden treatment options and support the continuity of medicine supplies across the region.
ADCAN Pharma to Establish Advanced Quality Testing Capabilities
Dr Fokion Sinis, CEO of ADCAN Pharma, said the collaboration represents a significant step towards strengthening pharmaceutical localization in the UAE.
As part of the partnership, ADCAN will have a laboratory in the UAE capable of performing the full range of quality testing procedures required for monoclonal antibodies.
“This collaboration with MS Pharma marks a defining step in advancing pharmaceutical localization in the UAE,” Sinis said.
He added that combining advanced testing infrastructure with MS Pharma's biopharmaceutical expertise would help build local capabilities in biosimilar technology, technical knowledge and quality testing.
The initiative is intended to support the development of a sustainable domestic biologics ecosystem while strengthening the UAE's healthcare resilience and advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities.
MS Pharma Focuses on Expanding Access to Advanced Treatments
Ghandi Yacoub, VP Commercial at MS Pharma, said expanding access to high-quality treatments remains central to the company's mission of improving health outcomes across the region.
He highlighted the company's growing biosimilar portfolio and biopharmaceutical expertise as important elements in addressing unmet medical needs and broadening treatment options.
“By combining these strengths with ADCAN's established manufacturing infrastructure and local capabilities, we aim to advance pharmaceutical localization in the UAE, bring treatments closer to patients and support more sustainable healthcare systems across the region,” Yacoub said.
UAE Pharmaceutical Localization and Healthcare Resilience
The partnership reflects broader UAE priorities to strengthen domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing, develop technical expertise and improve the availability of essential medicines.
Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, ADCAN Pharma and MS Pharma aim to progressively expand local production and testing capabilities while contributing to a more sustainable pharmaceutical sector.
The initiative also seeks to enhance the competitiveness of medicines manufactured in the UAE in regional and international markets.
By combining manufacturing infrastructure, biopharmaceutical expertise and advanced quality testing, the companies aim to support the UAE's ambitions to develop its pharmaceutical industry and strengthen the resilience of healthcare supply chains.
