City Nature Challenge

Nature enthusiasts across Dubai are invited to take part in the City Nature Challenge, a four-day global initiative running from April 24 to 27, encouraging residents to document local biodiversity using the iNaturalist app. Participants can capture and upload observations of plants, animals, trees, and coastal ecosystems, contributing to a worldwide citizen science effort aimed at better understanding and protecting urban nature. As part of the initiative, Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion will host a biodiversity festival on April 25 and 26, offering an interactive experience for families, students, and environmental enthusiasts. The festival will feature a wide range of hands-on workshops, expert-led talks, storytelling sessions, and creative activities, designed to promote awareness of sustainability and conservation. Visitors can take part in guided biodiversity walks, learn practical skills such as building bee hotels, and engage in activities like nature journaling, arts and crafts, and face painting. Indoor film screenings and an eco-market showcasing sustainable products will further enhance the experience, creating a platform for learning and community engagement around environmental responsibility. The event aims to make sustainability accessible and engaging, encouraging residents to actively connect with nature while contributing to global conservation efforts. Entry to the Terra festival is priced at AED 50, with free admission for children under three years old.
