When in Dubai, drop the google map, take the Metro

There are plenty of reasons why tourists prefer Dubai as a must-visit destination. And even more reasons for the many expats to settle down here with family and business. However, one main reason that makes the city dearer to these people is its non-human superhero the metro services.

Ask any random foreigner you pass by about the experience in Dubai and the reply will definitely have a handful of gratitude for the seamless metro services set up in the city. Dubai has successfully developed a metro service that runs around the city picking and dropping people. Be it the residents or the tourists, most of them depend on the metro services for travelling from one place to another.

It is convenient, comfortable and moreover quick. And the best part, forget the woes of traffic! The Dubai Metro is in fact the cheapest and easiest mode to roam around the city. The procedures are no rocket science, you just have to head to the nearby metro station (with metro stations dotting the city, finding one is not a task at all), get a ticket or Nol top-up card and you are in for the ride. Get into the train and youll see people of all types, there are the businessmen, the easy-going, the tourists, schoolchildren, professionals, shoppers with large shopping bags, gangs of friends, the old ones, the youngsters, kids and who not!

Making it even more hassle-free for the tourists, almost all important and prominent areas of the emirate has a metro service taking you right there. The metro welcomes you as soon as you step into the city, with services from Airport Terminal 1 and 3. The two lines red and green take passengers to opposite directions. If you want to switch between the red and green lines, you can get down at any of the interchange stations of BurJuman or Union.

Taking up the green line you can head to the Creek or Al Ras station, to explore the sites on the other side. Getting down at ADCB metro stations will give you easy access to the famous Al Karama markets and numerous restaurants serving splendid Indian food. Visiting the peoples favourite Dubai Mall and the iconic Burj Khalifa is a cakewalk with the metro services taking you exactly to the place. Just get off the metro and follow the arrows pointing towards the mall.

A walkway from another metro station takes you to the Mall of the Emirates, the citys second biggest mall. Damac Properties metro station will get you into a place with some picturesque views and vivid dining options in the beautiful Dubai Marina. Another prominent station is the Jumeirah Lake Towers opening up to one of Dubais most walkable areas. Eating and drinking have been strictly prohibited inside the trains.

Every train will have two sections dedicated solely for women and children, marked in pink. Men are strongly warned against getting into these, lest they end up paying the fine. The ride is quick and there are plenty of seats. All metro stations comprise restrooms for both genders. Apart from its impeccable convenience, it is also a fun-ride on the Dubai Metro.

The glass windows let you watch the scenic beauty of the place, the train to UAE Exchange metro station via World Trade Centre lets you enjoy the view of sunkissed skyscrapers glowing early morning, while at night the lights show up putting forth a dazzling visual treat. once in Dubai, heading to any new destination is not a case of worry with the metro services.
