Unable to concentrate at work? Lack of sleep could be the reason

True, life can be really busy, hectic and highly demanding. When asked about sleeping habits, I hardly sleep 5 hours a day, comes the usual response. Where in the world is room for a sound sleep when one is struggling even to get the minimum hours of it a day (the minimum hours of sleep for an adult is however 7 hours, and that seems farther than a dream). Gadgets The whining over bad sleep habits can be won over with a little more effort from oneself. Apparently cutting down on the amount of time spent on frivolous matters popping up on various social media platforms can help to a great extent. Studies also suggest that this distracting little gizmo called your mobile phone be kept aside from your bedside an hour before hitting the sheets. The sad truth, however, is that most of us spend these late hours frantically scrolling through everything from the nonsensical to the unessential just before our eyelids shut down, all weary and tired of the blue light. Work The second villain at the face of a good nights sleep is hectic work. But dear folks, how aware are we of the fact that our productivity is directly propositional to the quality of our sleep? Sleeping is not a mere daily ritual. It is a phase of relaxation for the whole body. Your brain desperately needs this. After the days work, these 7 hours of rest not only relaxes your brain but also boosts its performance, making you more energetic and creative. A night of sound sleep is also a mental detox as it helps you wake up fresh the next morning. Food The diet you follow plays a vital role in influencing your sleep. Though the whole days food intake is to be considered, the days last meal has a lot to do with your sleep. Heavy food just before hitting bed is a very bad idea. You must also try to avoid the intake of junk food, caffeine and alcohol during this time. Instead go for something light and healthy, like a salad. Also, ensure that you have it at least an hour before going to bed. Else its not the spooky ghosts or the bedbug irritating you, it is your very tummy. Overthinking And if at all you overcome the first three hurdles and settle down, comes the fourth, bolting from the blues to accompany you all night long overthinking. Yes, the never-ending chain of thoughts in your mind can adversely affect your sleep. From one thought to another, the overthinking continues as the level of disturbance caused in the mind stretches, tangles and ruins all that is left of a goodnight's sleep. This is a bit of a hard task to overcome. The more you try to sleep, the deeper you fall into the pit of thoughts. Nonetheless, this can also be conquered with some effort. Praying and meditating can help a great deal in achieving peace of mind before sleeping. You could also read a book or update your daily journal. Such activities ease the mind. Furthermore, there are things that can be adjusted to stimulate sleep, like the room temperature, lighting, noises, bedspreads and room fragrance among others. Happy sleeping tonight!
