UAE Residents Embrace Eid Spirit with Discounts, Family Gatherings Amid Regional Uncertainty
Residents across the United Arab Emirates are making the most of discounted and free activities this Eid Al Fitr, choosing to celebrate with family and community despite ongoing regional tensions.
Popular attractions such as Dubai Miracle Garden have seen long queues, as visitors take advantage of limited-time free entry offers during the festive period. Families have been arriving early to enjoy the attractions and avoid peak crowds, highlighting strong public enthusiasm for outdoor celebrations.
Many residents are prioritising large family gatherings this year. Dubai resident Fathima Sheikh said her extended family of around 50 members secured a discounted farmhouse for their celebrations, a plan that came together at the last minute due to initial uncertainty.
“Usually, our Eid plans are finalised well in advance, but this year we were unsure,” she said. “Fortunately, we found a suitable place and even received a good discount.”
The family also plans to explore major attractions during Eid, including Aquaventure Waterpark and Dubai Miracle Garden, embracing the festive crowds as part of the experience.
Tourism Activity Remains Strong
Visitors from neighbouring countries are also continuing to travel to the UAE. Saudi resident Mohammed Zohaib Peshimam, who drove from Riyadh to Dubai with his family, described the UAE as calm and welcoming despite wider regional concerns.
“We were unsure about travelling at first, but once we arrived, it felt peaceful,” he said, adding that his family plans to balance time with relatives and visits to local attractions during their stay.
Changing Plans, Not Celebrations
For some residents, travel disruptions have led to changes in plans. Sudanese expatriate Mawada Elmagboul, who had planned to visit her family in Egypt, is instead celebrating in Abu Dhabi with friends and her brother due to flight cancellations and high ticket prices.
Despite being away from home, she said the festive spirit remains strong through virtual connections and local celebrations. “Everyone stays connected through calls and messages, sharing moments throughout the day,” she said.
Authorities have confirmed that Eid prayers this year will be held inside mosques across the country, with timings ranging between 6:30am and 6:50am, ensuring safety amid the current situation.
Festive Spirit Endures
Across the UAE, residents and visitors alike are embracing the essence of Eid—togetherness, joy, and resilience—while taking advantage of special offers and experiences available throughout the holiday.
