Dubai to Enhance Beaches with New Facilities and Expansions to Boost Tourism

Dubai is set to elevate the beach experience for both residents and tourists with a series of new developments and facilities aimed at increasing the appeal of its iconic coastline. The Dubai Municipality has confirmed that these enhancements are part of a long-term strategy to make the emirate’s beaches more inclusive, vibrant, and tourist-friendly.

Transforming the Beach Experience

According to Mohammed Ahli, Acting Director of Public Parks and Recreational Facilities Department, the municipality’s plan is “based on visitor experience” and will offer something different from the traditional beach model.

“The beaches we are used to are different from the past,” said Ahli. “We want to enhance their attractiveness to position Dubai as a global leader in tourism offerings while ensuring the coast remains welcoming to all.”

The municipality is working closely with the private sector on development projects that will run through 2029, with an emphasis on year-round tourism support.

Success of Night Beaches and Future Plans

In a bid to keep the beaches active even during the intense summer months, night beaches were introduced in May 2023. This innovative initiative allowed visitors to enjoy the beach environment after sunset — a move that proved highly successful, drawing 1.5 million visitors within just 18 months, as reported by Dubai Municipality in December 2024.

These updates were announced during the Arabian Travel Market 2025, held from April 28 to May 1, where Dubai also showcased projects like the Dubai Safari Park, emphasizing sustainable wildlife care and tourism.

Dubai’s Vision for a Coastal Transformation

At the heart of these developments lies the Dubai Master Plan for Public Beaches, approved in 2023. It aims to increase the length of public beaches by 400%, focusing not just on quantity but on quality.

This falls under the broader Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, a strategic framework to develop green spaces, promote sustainable living, enhance urban infrastructure, and introduce flexible mobility systems across the city.

From upgraded beachside amenities to expanding shoreline access and sustainable coastal experiences, Dubai’s beaches are set to become year-round destinations that cater to leisure, health, and community connection.
