With the launch of the Dubai Metro Blue Line scheduled for 2029, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) continues its commercial station renaming initiative under the Naming Rights Project. First introduced in 2008, this initiative allows companies to acquire naming rights for metro stations, resulting in a number of name changes across the existing Red and Green Lines.

For residents and tourists alike, staying informed about the new and old station names is essential for navigating the growing transport network with ease. The Blue Line will add 14 new stations, expanding the total number to 67 metro stations, and will include 9 elevated and 5 underground stations over a 30-kilometre route.

Here is the updated list of station name changes across the Dubai Metro network:

Red Line – Old vs New Names

• Life Pharmacy (formerly UAE Exchange) – Renamed: May 5, 2025

• Danube (formerly Jebel Ali Industrial) – Renamed: November 13, 2012

• Energy (formerly DUBAL) – Renamed: 2015

• Jebel Ali → will become National Paints – Effective: July 1, 2025 (was Nakheel Harbour and Tower before May 18, 2020)

• DMCC (formerly JLT) – Renamed: September 1, 2018

• Sobha Realty (formerly Dubai Marina → Damac Properties) – Renamed: November 24, 2020 and August 9, 2021

• Al Fardan Exchange (formerly Al Khail → Nakheel) – Renamed: April 1, 2025 and November 24, 2020

• Insurance Market (formerly Mashreq → Sharaf DG) – Renamed: September 5, 2024 and May 18, 2020

• Equiti (formerly Umm Al Sheif) – Renamed: November 24, 2020

• ONPASSIVE (formerly Al Safa) – Renamed: November 24, 2020

• Max Fashion (formerly Al Jafiliya) – Renamed: August 4, 2021
