The UAE Ministry of Culture has officially launched the third cycle of its National Grant Program for Culture and Creativity, continuing its efforts to strengthen the cultural and creative sectors. The program, open for applications until October 31, 2024, offers grants in four main categories: Creation and Production, Promotion and Local Participation, Capacity Development, and International Travel and Mobility. The recipients of the grants will be announced on November 30, 2024.
Launched in 2023, the program seeks to empower Emirati creatives by supporting their cultural and artistic projects. His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, Minister of Culture, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, "The National Grant Program is a vital step in supporting our local talent, expanding the global presence of Emirati creatives, and advancing the cultural and creative industries in the UAE."
The previous cycles saw significant growth. In the first cycle, 26 creatives were selected from 183 applicants, while the second cycle supported 43 creatives from 224 applicants, reflecting a 160% growth. The total funding increased from AED 1.8 million in 2023 to AED 3.3 million in the second cycle, an impressive 183% rise.
Eligible creatives can apply in seven key fields: writing and publishing, music, film and television, performing arts and theater, visual arts and design, video games, and cultural heritage. The program aims to offer Emirati talent opportunities to showcase their work on local, regional, and international stages, enhancing the UAE’s cultural and creative reputation globally.
