UAE Marine Sports Federation and MAG Group Holding Partner to Champion Wooden Powerboat Racing and Youth Development
The UAE Marine Sports Federation has signed a strategic sponsorship agreement with MAG Group Holding, officially naming the company as the primary sponsor of the 2025 UAE Wooden Powerboat Championship (Al Shawaheef). This collaboration aims to revitalize the traditional sport of wooden powerboat racing and position it as a celebrated Gulf-wide sporting institution.
The agreement was formalized by Moafaq Al Gaddah, Founder and Chairman of MAG Group Holding, and Ahmed Al Sheryani, Secretary-General of the UAE Marine Sports Federation, in a ceremony attended by senior officials and distinguished guests from both entities.
Central to the partnership is the launch of the ‘Ambassadors of Al Shawaheef’ program, a regional initiative designed to train, inspire, and empower young talents across the GCC. Participants will undergo comprehensive hands-on boat-handling workshops, receive mentorship from veteran racers, and take part in competitive events that highlight the heritage and excitement of Al Shawaheef racing.
Ahmed Al Sheryani emphasized the collaboration's cultural and developmental goals, stating, “We are proud to partner with MAG Group Holding. This marks a significant milestone in the journey of Al Shawaheef racing. It reflects our mutual resolve to champion homegrown sporting events and celebrate our heritage with a modern flair. With the ‘Ambassadors of Al Shawaheef’ initiative, we offer young racers a unique opportunity for creativity and strengthen their ties to their culture and identity.”
Moafaq Al Gaddah echoed this sentiment, noting, “Our commitment goes beyond real estate development to investing in people and preserving customs. Sponsoring the Al Shawaheef Championship highlights our dedication to national causes and empowering the next generation. The ‘Ambassadors of Al Shawaheef’ program is about more than just training rising stars—it embodies our mission to nurture a confident, creative population grounded in shared roots and a sense of belonging.”
The collaboration underscores the role of private sector partnerships in preserving traditional sports while nurturing new generations of athletes who are deeply connected to their cultural roots.
