St. George’s University and Fairgreen International School launch medical education pathway in Dubai
St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada has signed an academic affiliation agreement with Fairgreen International School in Dubai to provide eligible students with new pathways to pursue medical education.
The agreement will give aspiring medical students at Fairgreen access to admissions pathways for SGU’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) programmes, scholarship opportunities and academic guidance to support their transition from secondary school to medical school.
Fairgreen International School, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is located in The Sustainable City, Dubai. Students who complete the IB Diploma and meet SGU’s admission requirements will be eligible to apply for its MD programmes.
Successful applicants can begin their medical studies at SGU’s campus in Grenada or at Northumbria University in Newcastle, United Kingdom, through SGU’s existing partnership with the university.
Scholarships and admissions support for students
The affiliation offers eligible students dedicated admissions support, a guaranteed interview opportunity and academic guidance as they prepare for medical school.
Students may also access SGU’s Global Scholarship Program, which offers scholarships of up to $80,000 for eligible international students. Additional financial assistance may be available to students who meet the relevant criteria.
Those enrolled in SGU’s MD programmes can access clinical training opportunities through a network of more than 75 affiliated hospitals and health centres across the United States and the United Kingdom.
The clinical placements are designed to provide hands-on experience in patient care and help students develop the practical skills and professional knowledge needed for medical careers.
Lily Phommarack, Associate Director of International Academic Affiliations at St. George’s University, said the agreement creates a new route for students in the UAE to pursue medical education.
She said the partnership would support aspiring physicians through admissions guidance and scholarship opportunities, while contributing to the development of future healthcare professionals.
Medical pathway comes amid UAE healthcare expansion
The collaboration comes as Dubai’s healthcare sector continues to expand, increasing the importance of education and training pathways for future medical professionals.
According to Dubai Health Authority figures cited in the announcement, Dubai’s private healthcare workforce exceeded 69,400 professionals in 2025, an increase of more than 8 per cent from the previous year. The number of licensed healthcare facilities reached approximately 5,800.
Timothy Rogers, Principal of Fairgreen International School, said the affiliation would help students interested in medicine explore career options aligned with their academic interests and commitment to service.
He said the school aimed to help students make informed decisions about their education and future careers, with the agreement offering an opportunity to consider an international route into medical training.
The partnership establishes a structured pathway from secondary education to medical study, supporting efforts to encourage more young people to consider careers in healthcare and contribute to the UAE’s future healthcare workforce.
