Specialized Kalba Dental Center Recognized as “Age-Friendly Institution” by Sharjah Age-Friendly City Program
The Specialized Kalba Dental Center has been honored with the prestigious title of "Age-Friendly Institution" in the fifth cycle of the Age-Friendly Institutions initiative, organized by the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Program under the Sharjah Social Services Department. This accolade highlights the center's dedication to providing a welcoming and accessible environment for elderly patients, ensuring smooth and safe access to dental care.
The recognition follows a rigorous evaluation process where the Specialized Kalba Dental Center achieved an impressive 86% compliance with established age-friendly standards. These standards encompass infrastructure enhancements such as accessible entrances, designated parking, ramps, and tailored support services, ensuring elderly patients can navigate the facility with ease.
Dr. Fatima Saeed Al Kaabi, Director of the Specialized Kalba Dental Center, expressed pride in this accomplishment, stating, “This recognition solidifies our leadership in offering specialized, sustainable care for the elderly. It aligns with Emirates Health Services’ commitment to developing facilities that meet the diverse needs of our community, especially seniors, in line with the UAE leadership’s vision for improving the quality of life for all citizens.”
The Age-Friendly Institutions award was announced at the 13th Senior Services Forum held earlier this month. The initiative, based on criteria from The WHO Global Network for Age-Friendly Cities and Communities, encourages institutions to adopt programs that integrate and support older adults. Evaluations are conducted every three years to ensure compliance with at least 80% of the required standards, focusing on areas like engineering, services, facilities, and social empowerment to foster a supportive environment for seniors.
