Saudi German Hospital Aseer Saves Stroke Patient’s Life Using Accredited Stroke Response Pathway
In a powerful testament to its medical excellence and commitment to patient safety, Saudi German Hospital (SGH) Aseer successfully activated its accredited stroke response pathway, saving the life of a 65-year-old male patient who suffered a stroke.
The patient, who arrived at the hospital just 15 minutes after experiencing symptoms such as left-sided weakness and slurred speech, was swiftly evaluated with a FAST-ED score of 5 and a known medical history of hypertension. Thanks to SGH Aseer’s rapid response and coordinated care, the patient underwent a mechanical thrombectomy within 3 hours and 30 minutes of symptom onset — a critical window for achieving optimal outcomes.
The life-saving procedure was carried out by a multidisciplinary team that included specialists from the Emergency Room, Neurology, Radiology, Anesthesia, ICU, and Neurosurgery. SGH Aseer also acknowledged the Red Crescent for ensuring timely transport of the patient, enabling the stroke protocol to be activated without delay.
Makarem Sobhi Batterjee, Vice Chairman of SGH, praised the coordinated effort:
“Immediate medical intervention and the successful completion of life-saving surgery demonstrate our exceptional expertise in emergency stroke care. Our accredited stroke response pathway is a revolutionary method for saving lives and preserving quality of life.”
This milestone reinforces SGH Aseer’s position as a leader in emergency neurological care, delivering cutting-edge treatment with speed, precision, and a patient-centered ethos under its guiding principle of "Caring like Family."
With this achievement, SGH Aseer not only highlights its dedication to world-class care but also sets a new benchmark for stroke treatment protocols in Saudi Arabia and the wider region. The hospital’s ongoing commitment to leveraging advanced medical systems ensures better patient outcomes and elevates standards in neurological emergency response.
