The reception included an exhibition of photographs of the museums automobiles taken in Wadi-Rum since the founding of the museum for various purposes and uses.

A special Mars rover model was built for this movie which was filmed partly in Wadi Rum in Jordan to simulate the surface of Mars. This Mars rover model was presented as a gift to Jordan in return for the hospitality with which Jordan has received the movie cast and team. The original vehicle model will be displayed in Al Baraka mall for one month, after which it will be exhibited in the Royal Automobile Museum.

The owner of Al Baraka Mall, Mr. Jalal Al-Gaood, gave a welcoming speech during the reception, and said: "The cooperation between the Royal Automobile Museum and Al Baraka Mall in this event is a model for cooperation between the public and the private sectors to provide better services and further develop the investment environment in the Kingdom."

The General Manager of the Royal Film Commission- Jordan (RFC), Mr. George David, welcomed the guests by saying: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Jordanian professionals in the movie industry who made this film possible. We shall not forget the great and fundamental support provided by the concerned government and private agencies, which was confirmed and appreciated by the director and producers of the film. I am also very proud to see The Martian film on top of the US box office. "

Mr. George David added: This movie does not economically benefit the producers only but also Jordan as a whole, for it is considered one of the most favored filming sites due to its exquisite location. Surely, this will encourage more producers to film in Jordan, the thing which will in turn create more job opportunities and benefit numerous sectors.

On his part, the director of the Royal Heritage Directorate, Mr. Raja Gargour, expressed his delight for organizing this event by saying: "We are proud to host the premiere of the The Martian film which displays the most prominent features of the Wadi Rum landmark area. This highlights the importance of Jordan as a safe haven with less political tensions than the surrounding areas of the region, the thing which makes it a point of attraction for many of the international and global forums. "

The Martian is a 2015 American science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon. The film is based on Andy Weir's 2011 novel The Martian, which was adapted into a screenplay by Drew Goddard. Matt Damon stars as an astronaut who is mistakenly presumed dead and left behind alone on Mars, and who then fights to survive on the limited resources available to him.

The museum is open to visitors daily from ten a.m. until seven p.m. except on Tuesday, the weekend of the museum.
