Oman signs participation contract for Expo 2030 Riyadh

The Sultanate of Oman has formally confirmed its participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh after signing its Participation Contract for the World Expo, which will take place from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031.

The agreement marks a key milestone in Oman’s preparations for the global event and will support the development of its national pavilion, as well as its wider participation and engagement programme throughout the Expo.

The contract was signed at the Expo 2030 Riyadh site by H.E. Sayyid Saeed Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture and Commissioner General of the Sultanate of Oman Pavilion, and Talal Al-Marri, Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2030 Riyadh.

Following the signing, the officials toured the Expo site to review ongoing development works, including the plot designated for the Oman Pavilion.

Oman prepares to showcase culture and national achievements

Sayyid Saeed Sultan Al Busaidi said the signing represented an important step in Oman’s preparations and reflected the longstanding ties and cooperation between Oman and Saudi Arabia.

He said the Oman Pavilion would provide an opportunity to highlight the country’s heritage and culture, the achievements of its people and its future ambitions.

Talal Al-Marri said Oman’s participation added to the momentum of international preparations for Expo 2030 Riyadh.

He noted that countries were increasingly moving from confirming their participation towards developing their pavilions and visitor experiences, contributing to the Expo’s vision of a global gathering in Riyadh.

International participation gains momentum

Oman’s agreement follows participation contracts signed with France and Bahrain, reflecting growing international engagement ahead of the Expo.

The early signing of participation agreements, more than four years before the event opens, is being positioned by Expo 2030 Riyadh as an unprecedented pace for the formalisation of international participation in the history of World Expos.

International participation is a central element of the Expo’s ambition to create a platform for collaboration and action.

Expo 2030 Riyadh to focus on future challenges

Held under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow,” Expo 2030 Riyadh will bring together countries and organisations to examine shared challenges and opportunities, exchange knowledge and perspectives, and develop new partnerships.

The event aims to encourage new approaches and support international efforts towards sustainable progress and a better future.

Expo 2030 Riyadh is expected to feature 197 Official Participants and attract approximately 42 million visits during its six-month run from October 2030 to March 2031.
