National CSR Fund – MAJRA Advances UAE’s Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Initiatives

The National CSR Fund – MAJRA, dedicated to strengthening social responsibility across the UAE, recently held its fourth advisory committee meeting, chaired by H.E. Abdulla Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Economy and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The meeting gathered key stakeholders from both public and private sectors, including committee members and representatives from various industries, to evaluate MAJRA’s ongoing initiatives and discuss new strategies for enhancing private sector participation in sustainable practices.

During the session, MAJRA shared significant performance metrics that underscore its commitment to expanding community support and strengthening government-private sector partnerships. H.E. Al Saleh emphasized the UAE’s focus on creating robust infrastructure for social responsibility, highlighting MAJRA’s role in promoting a culture of corporate social responsibility (CSR) among companies to drive tangible societal impacts. “We are committed to forming new partnerships and regulatory frameworks to embed social responsibility deeply within institutions and corporations, fostering impactful contributions toward the UAE’s sustainable development goals,” he stated.

Key discussions revolved around initiatives such as MAJRA’s series of workshops designed to raise awareness on CSR practices, as well as a proposal to launch ‘Impact Labs’ in partnership with local stakeholders. The meeting also included contributions from prominent officials such as Ahmed Khalifa Al Qubaisi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and H.E. Ammar Rashid Al-Alili, Managing Director of Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among other sustainability experts.

Sarah Shaw, Director of MAJRA, underscored the meeting’s importance in refining CSR strategies and fostering dialogue among diverse sectors. “In today’s rapidly evolving social landscape, collaboration is essential for cultivating a comprehensive approach to social responsibility. This meeting has enabled us to gain critical insights and update policies that drive both economic and social value through sustainable development,” Shaw remarked.

Concluding the meeting, committee members highlighted the need to amplify awareness campaigns promoting CSR as a cornerstone of sustainable business practices aligned with the UAE’s strategic goals. Attendees also discussed strategies to strengthen company-community engagement, stressing the importance of unified efforts in achieving MAJRA’s long-term objectives, particularly in areas such as environmental conservation, economic diversification, and educational support.
