Mubadala Bio partners with Marcyrl to localize women’s health and respiratory medicines in UAE

Mubadala Bio has signed a strategic partnership with Marcyrl Pharmaceutical Industries (Marcyrl Group) to localize a range of women’s health, fertility and respiratory medicines in the UAE, supporting domestic pharmaceutical capabilities and access to essential treatments.

The agreement was signed at the Future Health Summit in Abu Dhabi by Dr. Essam Mohamed, Group Chief Executive Officer of Mubadala Bio, and Dr. George Saad, Chief Executive Officer of Marcyrl Group.

The partnership will cover two key therapeutic areas: women’s health and fertility, and respiratory care. The products will be localized and distributed in the UAE, with additional medicines expected to be added to the portfolio over time.

Focus on women’s health and fertility

The women’s health portfolio will include medicines to support different stages of reproductive health, from fertility and pregnancy through to childbirth. It will also cover treatments for common gynaecological and hormonal conditions.

The respiratory portfolio will address a range of acute and chronic conditions. Products will include metered-dose inhalers, dry powder inhalers, nebulisation solutions and nasal sprays.

Dr. Essam Mohamed said localising pharmaceutical products was central to building a resilient life sciences ecosystem in the UAE. He added that women’s health was a priority therapeutic area for Mubadala Bio and that the partnership would help expand access to important treatments, alongside respiratory medicines.

Partnership aims to strengthen healthcare resilience

Dr. George Saad said the agreement marked a step towards improving access to essential medicines in the UAE and across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

He said Marcyrl Group would contribute its manufacturing expertise in women’s health, fertility and respiratory care, while Mubadala Bio would provide its regional platform to support localisation and patient access.

The agreement forms part of Mubadala Bio’s broader efforts to strengthen the UAE’s domestic pharmaceutical capabilities, expand access to priority treatments and support the development of an integrated life sciences ecosystem.
