Ministry of Higher Education and Emirates Group Partner to Advance Emirati Scholarship Programme

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has announced a strategic partnership with the Emirates Group to enhance the national scholarship programme and support the development of skilled Emirati talent aligned with the UAE's economic priorities. The agreement marks a significant step in bridging higher education with the country’s job market while contributing to Emiratisation efforts and future workforce readiness.

The agreement, signed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and emiratisation and Acting Minister of higher education and scientific research, aims to align academic qualifications with practical industry demands.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum emphasized the Emirates Group’s dedication to empowering Emirati youth, stating:

“Through this partnership, we aim to provide academic and career pathways that contribute meaningfully to the UAE’s aviation sector and wider economy. This initiative supports our Emiratisation strategy, ensuring long-term career growth for the next generation.”

The scholarship programme will enable Emirati students to pursue studies at leading international universities in disciplines aligned with national priorities. It also guarantees employment opportunities with the Emirates Group during and after their studies, allowing students to focus on academic achievement while gaining practical industry experience.

His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar highlighted the strategic nature of the collaboration:

“This agreement is designed to enhance the quality of higher education and ensure graduates are well-prepared for the job market. It also reflects MoHESR’s ongoing efforts to create supportive environments through partnerships with leading national companies.”

Under the agreement, MoHESR will allocate annual scholarships for new and continuing Emirati students, coordinate study destinations and academic disciplines with the Emirates Group, and manage the application and selection process. Upon graduation, students will transition into roles within the Emirates Group’s business units, supported by continued mentorship and training.

The Emirates Group will provide students with continuous professional development opportunities throughout their academic journey, aligning training with real-world job requirements. The group will also offer flexible employment options based on operational needs and reward high-performing students with additional incentives.

This initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to investing in human capital and building a knowledge-based economy. It also represents a model of collaboration between government and private sector entities to ensure the academic and professional success of Emirati youth.
