The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police College, organized an awareness lecture on political participation, which highlighted the active role of the Federal National Council and the positive impact of the 2006 and 2011 national elections on the UAE society. The lecture, held at Officers Training Institute, witnessed the participation of 65 officers.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for Federal National Council Affairs in the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, said: Political participation is of significance to Arab and Islamic culture, and has an important role in the UAE society. The UAE constitution has enabled the political development process through the Federal National Council which allows representatives of the citizens to convey their concerns and issues to the government and thereby makes it possible for the government to achieve the needs of the citizens.
H.E. Dr. Al Ghafli further pointed out that the national elections held in 2006 and 2011 showed the high level of political awareness, and its positive results are visible in all fields of the UAE society. The national elections are key steps to strengthen political and social values in the country, and establishing new priorities based on the active political participation of the citizens, added H.E. Dr. Al Ghafli.
The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs is working on implementing the initiatives to promote a culture of political participation among all segments of the society through various activities such as lectures, workshops, awareness bulletins, Political Participation magazine, as well as electronic initiatives like the electronic empowerment bulletins and interactive website.
