Meydan Free Zone Hosts Successful Corporate Tax and Compliance Summit

 Meydan Free Zone successfully held the Corporate Tax and Compliance Summit on October 8th and 9th, 2024, gathering industry leaders and experts to discuss critical issues surrounding corporate tax and compliance across UAE Free Zones. With the theme “All Questions Answered,” the two-day summit provided a platform for in-depth discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking.

The first day kicked off with a session on Corporate Tax, moderated by Shiraz Khan from Al Tamimi Group. Key speakers included Sadeq Khatib from the Dubai Department of Finance, who covered Corporate Tax Guidelines for Free Zones; Liam Purcell from Aurifer, discussing Corporate Tax Technicalities; and Nirav Shah from FAME Advisory, who shared insights into corporate tax practices. A subsequent Compliance session, also led by Khan, featured talks from Khalid Suhail Alzaabi, Senior Specialist from the National Risk Section, on compliance challenges, as well as presentations from Sachith Shkarbatyuk of KPMG and Alia Noor from Ahmed Alagbari.

The second day continued with further discussions on corporate tax, led by Khatib and Purcell, followed by a tax compliance session featuring Shamseer Purayil, an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist from the Ministry of Economy, and Shkarbatyuk, who provided insights into the latest regulatory developments and best practices.

Participants engaged in interactive Q&A sessions, enhancing their understanding of the complexities of corporate tax and compliance.

Mohammad Bin Humaidan, Director of Meydan Free Zone, highlighted the importance of the event, stating, "This summit has been an invaluable opportunity to unite thought leaders and empower businesses with the knowledge necessary to navigate today's regulatory landscape."

The summit also featured an exhibition showcasing leading service providers, including a notable contribution from Grow from Dubai, which connected participants with innovative solutions for corporate tax and compliance.
