MBRF Launches ‘Writing Children’s Stories’ Workshop to Empower Young Writers

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) has launched the first phase of its ‘Writing Children’s Stories’ workshop as part of the Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW). With the participation of 16 aspiring writers, the workshop, held at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, is led by renowned author Nadia Al Najjar and is aimed at developing new talents in the field of children’s literature. The workshop runs for three months and is designed to equip young writers with the tools needed to turn their creative ideas into compelling stories for future generations.

The workshop focuses on teaching the essential elements of writing for children, helping participants hone their skills in storytelling, character development, and crafting age-appropriate narratives. The second phase of the workshop is set to begin in October 2024, where participants will further enhance their writing techniques through brainstorming, idea exchanges, and practical exercises.

Nadia Al Najjar emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that it aligns with the MBRF’s commitment to fostering creative talent. “This workshop highlights the art of writing for children, focusing on creating stories that cater to the developmental needs of young readers,” she said. The program covers various aspects of children’s literature, from building relatable characters and creating imaginative scenes to understanding the developmental needs of the target age group.

DIPW is a flagship project of the MBRF, designed to support and nurture young writers by providing them with training opportunities across multiple literary fields. Through this initiative, MBRF aims to empower writers to become active contributors to their communities and inspire future generations through literature.
