Lockheed Martin Celebrates 50 Years of Partnership with UAE at IDEX 2025, Showcasing Cutting-Edge Innovation
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is commemorating 50 years of strategic partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) 2025, taking place from February 17-21 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. This milestone highlights the decades-long collaboration that began in 1975, when Lockheed Martin delivered the first C-130 Hercules tactical airlifter to the UAE. Over the years, the partnership has evolved to encompass regional security and innovative advancements in defense technologies.
General John Nicholson (US Army, Ret.), CEO of Lockheed Martin Middle East, expressed his pride in the enduring partnership, stating, “Celebrating 50 years of partnership with the UAE demonstrates how our collaboration continues to strengthen regional security, develop local talent, and help our partners effectively address evolving challenges.”
At IDEX 2025, Lockheed Martin will showcase a range of advanced defense technologies across all domains—land, air, sea, and space. Highlights will include next-generation fighter jets, cutting-edge helicopters, state-of-the-art air and missile defense systems, and sophisticated command-and-control platforms. The company continues to combine innovation with a long-standing legacy of collaboration to provide the tools and expertise necessary to ensure mission success and contribute to global stability.
The company will also highlight projects developed by UAE nationals at its Center for Innovation and Security Solutions (CISS) in Masdar City. CISS has trained hundreds of Emirati students in robotics, AI, networked systems, and modeling and simulation, creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders in the aerospace and defense sectors.
Lockheed Martin is also a gold sponsor of the International Defense Conference (IDC), which will be held on February 16, 2025. Tim Cahill, President of Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control business, will participate in a panel discussion titled “Global Disruptions and Defense Preparedness: Mitigating Threats to Critical Supply Chains,” highlighting the company’s role in delivering essential defense systems globally.
Over the past five decades, Lockheed Martin’s partnership with the UAE has expanded from tactical airlifter deliveries to fostering sovereign defense capabilities through industrial collaboration and workforce development. The company’s commitment to innovation and its focus on artificial intelligence’s transformative role in modern security remain at the forefront of its efforts to ensure the safety of future generations.
