India-GCC Trade Council Appoints Advocate Sudhir Babu as India’s Trade Commissioner to the UAE

The India-GCC Trade Council, part of the India Economic Trade Organization (IETO), has announced the appointment of Advocate Sudhir Babu as India’s Trade Commissioner to the UAE. The appointment, effective from October 2024, marks a significant step in strengthening trade relations between India and the UAE.

At a press conference held in Dubai, Advocate Sudhir Babu, a senior lawyer and business leader with over 25 years of experience in Dubai’s legal and business sectors, shared his vision for advancing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) target of $100 billion in non-oil trade between India and the UAE by 2030. “As you know, the non-oil trade target between India and the UAE, as defined by CEPA, is set at $100 billion per year by 2030. I look forward to contributing to this vital objective,” he stated.

Advocate Sudhir Babu also announced plans to focus on key sectors such as information technology, tourism, real estate, education, and the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He revealed that a dedicated office will be established in Dubai to facilitate trade and business activities between the two nations, in coordination with India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economy.

A large business session is planned for the end of 2024 in Dubai, aiming to bring together business leaders and stakeholders to explore new trade opportunities.
