Huawei Hosts Huawei ICT Academy 10th Anniversary and ICT Competition Finals 2024-2025 in Riyadh

Huawei, in collaboration with UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), King Saud University (KSU), and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), inaugurated the 2024-2025 Middle East and Central Asia (ME&CA) ICT Competition Regional Finals in Riyadh. The event marks the 10th anniversary of the Huawei ME&CA ICT Academy, celebrating a decade of nurturing digital talent in the region.

The three-day competition, held at King Saud University, brings together over 300 participants from 19 countries across the Middle East and Central Asia, underscoring Huawei's commitment to fostering ICT education and bridging the digital talent gap.

Milestone Celebration of Talent Development

Wang Shunli, Vice President of Huawei ME&CA, emphasized Huawei's commitment to digital transformation:
“The Huawei ICT Competition has been at the forefront of bridging the digital talent gap in the Middle East and Central Asia region to pave the way for an intelligent era. This year’s regional finals, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Huawei’s ICT Academy, highlight our dedication to developing the next generation of ICT professionals who will help achieve national visions and digital transformation goals.”

Dr. Ibrahim Alwatban, Dean at the College of Telecom & Information (CTI), TVTC, stated:
“Thanks to partnerships with industry leaders like Huawei, we remain at the forefront of technological advancements. Huawei’s innovative AI solutions enable us to deliver cutting-edge education and prepare graduates to meet job market demands.”

Record Participation and Key Highlights

This year, the Huawei ICT Competition witnessed record participation, with 31,000 students from 640 regional universities competing across multiple tracks, including AI, Cloud, Network, and Computing. Key activities include:

  • Instructor Contest: Showcasing advanced teaching methodologies and ICT expertise.
  • Innovation Competition: Student teams presenting groundbreaking projects in AI and emerging technologies.

Students and teachers will also embark on a Huawei Innovation and Technology Tour, exploring Huawei's flagship facilities, Future Space, and flagship store in Riyadh.

Decade of Achievements

Over the past decade, the Huawei ME&CA ICT Academy has made remarkable strides, including:

  • Training over 300,000 students.
  • Certifying over 35,000 talents.
  • Building a network of 2,000+ qualified instructors through 106 ICT academies.

Launched in 2017, the Huawei ME&CA ICT Competition has become the region’s largest initiative for cultivating ICT talent, receiving endorsements from UNESCO IITE, regional ministries, and industry leaders.

Huawei’s vision remains focused on bringing digital solutions to every person, home, and organization, solidifying its role as a leading driver of the region’s digital transformation and education ecosystem.
