H.E. Humaid Al Qutami, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, inaugurates new 150 Bed Multi-Specialty Aster Hospital in Al Qusais
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 28 January 2019: H.E. Humaid Al Qutami, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) yesterday, inaugurated the 150-bed multi-specialty Aster Hospital located in Al Qusais, in presence of Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman & Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare and H. E Abdulla Ahmed Al Habbai, Chairman of Dubai Holdings and Group Chairman of Meraas.
H.E. "The 150-bed Aster Hospital in Al Qusais, with 352 employees will have all the usual specialties with new specialties like neurology also being introduced. Apart from 38 doctors at Aster Mankhool, the new hospital would also tap into Aster DM Healthcare's network of over 2500 doctors to bring-in acclaimed specialists in UAE. Some of these doctors have performed complex surgeries like organ transplants, brain and cardiac surgeries. With high-prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases like cardiovascular disease and diabetes, increased availability of tertiary care expertise locally is the need of the hour. The new hospital is part of Aster DM Healthcare's continued commitment as an integrated healthcare service organization to cater to the growing needs of the population while making quality healthcare easily available and more accessible to people. To match the changing requirements of Dubai's population with mandatory insurance cover, the hospitals will provide tertiary treatments. Over the last three years, Aster DM Healthcare has invested AED 750 million in UAE and another AED 250 million is envisaged over the next two years. Total estimated investment of AED 1 billion in 5 years in UAE, with 2 new hospitals expected to come up in the next 3 years. The newly inaugurated multi-specialty hospital is another great step towards better healthcare in Dubai taken forward by Aster. A combined bed capacity of 275+ is now being offered by Aster Hospitals, spread across the two locations. In total, Aster DM Healthcare now offers a bed capacity of 600+ across its facilities in UAE.
At Al Qusais, further to facilities including as many as six operation theatres, the hospital has a critical care unit, a neo-natal unit, 24-hour emergency care and a pharmacy, in addition to a range of recovery rooms at scalable price points. Obstetrics and gynaecology, pediatrics and neonatology, gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, ENT, endocrinology, orthopedics, urology, nephrology, ophthalmology, general & laparoscopic surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, dentistry, emergency medicine critical care, 24/7 emergency room and trauma care, radiology, pathology, rehabilitation, pulmonology, cardiology, family medicine, hepatology, anesthesiology, oncology are some of the specialisms on offer. Specialisms including rheumatology, hematology and bariatric, vascular and plastic surgery will be offered in the near term.
