Federal Tax Authority urges resident juridical persons with licenses issued in January and February to submit Corporate Tax registration applications by 31 May 2024

The deadline applies to all resident juridical persons with licences issued in January and February, regardless of the year the license was issued.

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has issued a timely reminder to all resident juridical persons falling under Corporate Tax regulations. In a press statement released today, the FTA emphasized the significance of adhering to the deadline for Corporate Tax registration applications, urging eligible entities to submit their applications by May 31, 2024, to avoid potential violations of tax laws.

The call for compliance stems from FTA Decision No.3 of 2024, which took effect on March 1, 2024. Under this decision, administrative penalties will be imposed on taxable persons failing to submit their Corporate Tax registration applications within the specified timeframe. Cabinet Decision No. 10 of 2024 further supports this measure by outlining penalties for non-compliance with registration requirements.

The FTA underlined the importance of reviewing the Corporate Tax Law and associated guidelines available on its official website. Stakeholders involved in implementing the law are urged to familiarize themselves with these resources to ensure compliance.

Corporate Tax registration can be completed conveniently through the EmaraTax digital tax services platform. The registration process involves four simple steps, taking approximately 30 minutes to complete. Taxable persons already registered for Value Added Tax (VAT) or Excise Tax can utilize their existing accounts on EmaraTax to initiate and complete the Corporate Tax registration process.

For taxable persons not yet registered, the FTA provides guidance on creating a new user profile through the e-Services portal. Once a user profile is established, individuals can proceed with Corporate Tax registration by following the outlined steps.

To facilitate the registration process further, the FTA offers support through multiple Government Service Centres across the UAE. Trained specialists at these centres assist taxable persons in submitting their Corporate Tax registration requests efficiently.

Upon completion of the application process and verification of the entered data, FTA officers will review the applications. Successful applicants will receive their Tax Registration Number (TRN) for Corporate Tax purposes via the email address provided during the registration process.

The FTA encourages eligible entities to take proactive steps towards compliance by ensuring timely submission of Corporate Tax registration applications. Failure to meet the deadline may result in penalties as outlined by relevant tax regulations.
