The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has released a Public Clarification regarding the registration timelines for taxable persons subject to corporate tax. This move aims to provide clear guidance on deadlines and encourage timely submission of tax registration applications.
The clarification highlights the FTA's commitment to transparency and compliance by informing taxable persons and stakeholders about key updates and developments. It specifically addresses the timelines prescribed in Federal Tax Authority Decision No. 3 of 2024, related to Federal Decree Law No. 47 of 2022 on Corporate Tax.
Key Highlights:
-
Effective Date: The Public Clarification is effective from March 1, 2024.
-
Application Deadlines:
- Juridical Persons (Resident): Must register based on the month of their license issuance. Those without a license by March 1, 2024, must register by May 31, 2024. Multiple licenses use the earliest issuance date.
- Juridical Persons (Non-Resident): Must register within nine months of establishing a permanent establishment. Non-residents with a nexus in the UAE before March 1, 2024, must apply by May 31, 2024. After this date, they have six months from establishing a permanent establishment or nexus.
- Natural Persons (Resident): Must register if their turnover exceeds AED 1 million within a Gregorian calendar year, with applications due by March 31 of the following year.
- Natural Persons (Non-Resident): Must register within three months of meeting the turnover threshold via a permanent establishment in the UAE.
