Government
Fair share of holidays for both public and private sectors in the UAE
Dubai, 07 March 2019: A delighted audience welcomed the Governments new order to unify the holidays for both the public and private sectors yesterday. This would put an end to the cry for more holidays from those working in the private sectors.
The recent decision from the authorities would restrict companies from declaring holidays as per their whims, and would force all private sectors to abide by the governments decision.
The announcement was greatly lauded and is expected to streamline work in both the sectors. The move will also attract more Emiratis into the private sector. Having made the announcement well ahead, residents and citizens have already picked up the calendar and rounded out the days for a vacation. With around 4 days already given for Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha, added with the weekend, a long holiday is guaranteed for sure.
The holidays as announced are as follows:
Eid Al Fitr: 29 Ramadan-3 Shawwal
Arafah Day: 9 Dhu al Hijjah
Eid Al Adha: 10-12 Dhu Al Hijjah
Hijri New Year: 1 Muharram
Commemoration Day: 1 December
National Day: 2-3 December
The same will be followed in the year 2020 as well along with a holiday on the 1st of January.
