Etihad Rail Unveils High-Speed Passenger Train Linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai
Etihad Rail has announced the launch of a groundbreaking high-speed train project connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai, reducing travel time between the two emirates to just 30 minutes. Capable of reaching speeds of up to 350 km/h, the project was unveiled during a ceremony at the Al Faya Depot in Abu Dhabi, attended by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The initiative, undertaken with the blessing of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aims to transform the UAE’s transportation sector while contributing an estimated AED 145 billion to the nation’s GDP over the next 50 years.
Integrated Passenger Rail Stations
The project includes the UAE’s first four passenger rail stations, strategically located in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah. These stations will integrate seamlessly with metro and bus networks, creating a fully interconnected transport system. Designed with inspiration from Emirati heritage, the stations will feature business-class lounges, retail outlets, and family-friendly amenities, offering a premium travel experience.
Features of the Passenger Trains
The high-speed passenger trains, designed to offer a seamless travel experience, will operate at speeds of up to 200 km/h. The service is expected to boost connectivity to strategic destinations and tourist attractions, further enhancing the UAE’s status as a global leader in transportation innovation.

Sheikh Khaled emphasized that the project embodies the UAE leadership’s vision to advance national infrastructure and ensure a sustainable future for current and future generations. Sheikh Hamdan echoed these sentiments, highlighting the project’s role in enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors while solidifying the UAE’s reputation as a regional and global leader in adopting innovative mobility solutions.
