Ericsson and du Partner to Expand 5G Network Across UAE

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and du, a prominent telecom and digital services provider, have signed a new agreement to expand du's 5G network across the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The partnership aims to enhance 5G network capacity, enabling high-quality mobile broadband (MBB) and fixed wireless access (FWA) services, and preparing for future 5G advancements, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and cloud gaming.

Through this collaboration, du will utilize Ericsson’s Radio Access Network (RAN) portfolio, focusing on improving network performance and enhancing user experience. “This expansion underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for our customers,” said Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du. “Increased network capacity will position us for the future of digital services, especially in AR, VR, and cloud gaming.”

Nicolas Blixell, Vice President and Head of Ericsson Gulf Council Countries, emphasized the impact of the partnership on 5G development in the region: “Expanding du’s 5G network capacity is essential to meet the growing demand for next-generation services. Our collaboration aims to address the evolving needs of both consumers and businesses in the UAE.”

This agreement extends Ericsson's partnership with du, initially established in 2021, and introduces innovations like an energy-efficient radio that integrates multiple frequency bands and sectors, optimizing space and reducing power consumption by up to 40%.
